At Long Last is a self-portrait that captures the psychological monster that is my mind. This is my truth, stripped to its essence, its naked skeleton. All falsehoods of my exterior have been shed; only my insecurity remains as I sit in harsh self-judgment.
Ironically, when I began painting self-portraits, I used a technique called “projection” to hide my bad skin. Thus my “real” face, the face that existed beneath the mask of its blemishes, could be displayed in truth. I also used an array of colorful light, bled together, to hide the ugly monster that I believed I was.
