In this image, entitled Eden, Eve offers an apple to her viewer. It represents the classic moment of temptation, our choice between good and evil – to sin or not to sin. This, the age-old human decision, that each one of us faces every day. Adam and Eve broke God’s command and ate the forbidden apple, which is something that I feel we do as a society. I know that if I were there, and Eve had offered me the apple, I would have enjoyed it.
This is one of my photos rooted in mythological and religious themes; my art attempts to convey that we are all Gods, on some level. The caveat is that we are conflicted by choices of good and evil because as human beings, we face temptation. The history of mankind shows that humanity consistently falls to temptation – this, I believe is why we play out the same stories again and again, and why even the most horrific of atrocities repeat themselves.
